Making Your Senior Session Stand Out From The Rest

You have been Pinteresting what seems like forever now looking for ways to stand out from other seniors uniquely. You find yourself running out of ideas and continuously searching for something that makes you different. Honestly, it is not as easy as you would think it is! Your senior session should be a reflection of who you are. I would love to share some information to help give you ideas of what you can do!

DO YOU MESH WELL?

Choose a photographer you mesh with, and the rest is history. Being comfortable with someone taking your photographs will help ease your nerves. You will spend part of the day with this person, so you want to make sure it will be enjoyable. Ask them questions, and they should return questions and answers back to you. They need to be interested in you because this session is all about you!

VIEW PRODUCTS/PORTFOLIO

Ask to see a photographer’s portfolio and work. Each photographer has their own unique style. Make sure it flows with your personality, and that their images get you excited! Don’t write off a photographer who has only been in business for a few years, though. You would be surprised how many clients one person can take on in just one year! Besides, it is nice to have a modern look at creative ideas.

SLOW DOWN...

Don’t overthink it. I know it may seem overwhelming. This time of your life goes by quickly and in a blur. You are thinking that you want your hair perfect, your outfit perfect, your images to pop out, but you can’t bombard yourself. As long as you are having a good time and laughing, your portraits will turn out amazing.

Now Offering College Reveal Sessions!

Choosing what college you will attend is a big deal and major life decision! It's a four year plus commitment that will carry with you for the rest of your life. I can't think of a better way to reveal it to the world than a photo! So grab your new college gear (sweatshirt, hat, or don your new college colors), and let's get to work!

I recently shot a photo reveal session for a soon to be college freshman. We captured her school spirit, excitement, and even mom's anxiety in her images. It was a fantastic, exhilarating experience! What I didn't expect was the call from mom a week later. She called to thank me for the pictures, and then continued to tell me about the party they had for the reveal. Family and friends came over; they grilled out, had cake, opened fits, and read cards. They had smoke bombs that released her school colors and then passed out wallets we had made from her reveal shoot. The part that got me was when mom described it as ‘an important and uplifting time for my daughter as she heads out into the world.’ After that, she compared the energy at the reveal to her own gender reveal party she had years prior. It made me realize how important it is to encourage and build up our kids when they embark on their college journey.

Not every reveal has to be so extravagant, and you can choose your style. It's the memories and excitement that you and your child get while sharing your photos. I am sure this senior felt so encouraged and ready for their big move in adulthood.

I want to thank you for the opportunity to participate in these photos. They bring so much joy to me, knowing that I was able to create these beautiful memories for you and your family. So flip the tassel and toss the graduation cap as you move on into life's next big journey.
